A Slipper Was Raised To Hit Me: Rohini Acharya Accuses Family After Quitting RJD

Rohini Acharya has escalated the family crisis within the Rashtriya Janata Dal leadership through a fresh post on X, a day after her dramatic resignation from politics.

Rohini Acharya alleges abuse in Family

She alleged humiliation, verbal abuse and attempts to physically assault her, along with emotional desertion by her own family members. Her new remarks added a deeper layer of personal pain and charged accusations to what started as a political departure.

Emotional claims in latest post

In her new social media message, Rohini wrote that she was humiliated and verbally attacked. She also claimed that a slipper was raised to hit her while she stood by what she called truth and self respect.

Her post stated, "Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated, filthy abuses were hurled at her, a slipper was raised to hit her. I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and solely because of this, I had to endure this insult..."

She further claimed that she was compelled to walk away from her parents and siblings, describing it as an emotional separation.

"Yesterday, a daughter, out of compulsion, left behind her crying parents and sisters and came away; they tore me away from my maternal home... They left me orphaned..."

She ended her post with a message of warning and sorrow, "May none of you ever walk my path, may no family ever have a daughter-sister like Rohini"

Background of her decision to quit politics

Her public outburst came after RJD faced one of its worst electoral results in a decade during the Bihar assembly polls, managing to secure only 25 seats. A day before her latest post, Rohini announced that she was stepping away from politics while also declaring that she had cut ties with her family.

She attributed her decision to Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, who are widely known as close figures within Tejashwi Yadav's circle. Sanjay, a Rajya Sabha MP, is considered one of Tejashwi's principal advisors while Rameez Alam is known to share a long association with him.

Allegations directed at Tejashwi and close aides

Speaking to the media at Patna airport before flying to Delhi, she expressed deep discontent and claimed she had no family left. She was quoted saying:

"I don't have a family. You should go and ask Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez. They are the ones who threw me out of the family. They do not want to take any responsibility... The whole nation is asking why the party failed like this. When you take the names of Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, you are thrown out of the house, disgraced, and abused."

A leader from the Mahagathbandhan shared that internal issues may be at play and said there could be disputes involving Sanjay Yadav's growing influence. He claimed, "There is more to what meets the eye. Rohini has issues with Sanjay Yadav pertaining to the latter's stature as a key aide of Tejashwi. There could be some internal squabbling in the family, which led to Rohini making the post."

Not the first sign of tension

Reports of friction were previously discussed during the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign when Rohini contested from Saran but lost. There were claims that she was upset over not being given more authority in party affairs, though the family and leaders later denied any dispute.

Sanjay Yadav has not issued a public response to her latest allegations so far.
